This is fascinating stuff. Anecdotally, we visit our partner eBay all the time and they have been a stalwart Windows shop. Over the last few months I have been seeing more and more Macs on their campus. I asked a few questions to find out what is going on and I was told that they are now offering Macs as an option to all new employees and as they replace computers employees are being given the choice. The reason for this, I was told, that this is an employee retention strategy as so may employees have been asking for this option.
