Easter Egg Hunt 2006

What a morning. We got up early before Church and hid Easter eggs throughout Trish's garden. India's little friend Scarlet also came over to enjoy the festivities. It turned out awsome...they both had a wonderful time.

Twisting India

Hi Family,

Here is the update on India. As some of you know India has been doing this twisting 'thing' (see attached video) since she was 5 months old. Mostly this was confined to the high chair but over the last 4 months it's regularity has increased. We finally decided to have this looked at by her doctor which led to a referral to Neurology Pediatrics Specialist on the Island. It appeared we would not get to see that person for a month or two so her doctor requested that we see a specialist in Vancouver.

We went over to Childrens hospital last week for one day to meet with the specialist. Well as it turned out we met with two specialists for almost 4 hours! They were incredibly thorough and we felt well taken care of. From this visit they decided that we would need to get some blood work done and we would come back to Children's for this past Thursday and Friday for additional tests. On Thursday we had the EEG (this is her second). This is not alot of fun for India as she needs to be sleep deprived (not a happy camper) and then all these connector nodes need to be pasted to her head. No fun but she did well and fell asleep right away.

That afternoon we took her to the aquarium and had a great time.

Friday was the MRI and for that she needed to be on a fast for both food and liquids. She got bumped a spot so we didn't actually get the MRI until about 10:30 am. For this she was put completely out....again no fun as it meant another needle. However she did admirably. She also needed a lumbar puncture to take some spinal fluids but this was done right after the MRI while she was still under. After this we were taken to recovery but she still couldn't have fluids as the doctors ordered even more blood tests!!! Poor thing.......here she is tired, hungry and thirsty and we couldn't give her anything. Finally after the blood was taken (after much crying - oh what a brave little girl) we were able to give her something to drink.

Anyway later that afternoon we met with the Neurology Pediatrics Specialist, Dr. Shelby, who proceeded to tell us that all tests came back normal however they were still waiting on a few blood tests but fully expecting them to come back normal. So the long and short of it is that they cannot see from their tests and investigation any indication that this behaviour is being caused by something physical. If the rest of the tests come back negative then they believe it may be a behavioural issue. They will then recommend us to a pediatric Psychologist who will help us to find out the source of the behaviour and then potential strategies to modify it. Trish and I remain to be convinced that this is the case but we remain open minded and will do whatever is necessary for her.

So we will keep you all up to date with all the new information we have when we have. We love you all and thank you for your prayers.

Love,

Michael
