Why the Slacks alternatives didn’t work.
Now you probably think, yes but there was Yammer before, and Campfire and Hipchat and Skype. I’ve used them but none of them has been as addictive as Slack.
The reason is that they all either implemented threaded comments or didn’t put a message limit. The result is that you don’t have to check the conversation all the time, because you can always take part in it later. Even years later. There’s no social isolation effect, no addiction effect and no reason to keep checking.

Watch 2,000 marbles come together to make beautiful music | The Verge:
The Wintergartan Marble Machine, built by Swedish musician Martin Molin, is unlike anything you have ever seen before. Comprising 3,000 wooden pieces, and using 2,000 marbles, the elaborate music-box looks like a loom met a cotton gin and the two started making beautiful music together.

Side Product Marketing is The New King — The Startup — Medium:
In other words, launching a side project may take less time and effort than writing a blog post, while returning an outcome that is equal to dozens of blog posts in most cases.

What’s Next in Computing? — Medium:
I tend to think we are on the cusp of not one but multiple new eras. The “peace dividend of the smartphone war” created a Cambrian explosion of new devices, and developments in software, especially AI, will make those devices smart and useful.

Watch how the Porsche 911 has changed (and stayed the same) for 50 years | The Verge:
Donut Media has made a wonderful little video illustrating how the 911 has evolved, starting with a 1964 901 in Ivory White and ending with a 2016 991 GT3 RS. It's well worth the minute of your time to get a great sense of how the company has both preserved and fundamentally changed Ferdinand Porsche's rear-engined coupe at the same time.

See OK Go go weightless in dizzying new music video:
The video for the band's song "Upside Down & Inside Out" was shot while the band and crew were weightless aboard a plane that conducts a special parabolic maneuver, providing brief periods of zero-gravity. While the video is only around three minutes long, it was actually shot in one 45-minute long take.

Watch Funny Or Die's insane Donald Trump TV movie starring Johnny Depp | The Verge:
The 50-minute-long spoof is being billed as an original '80s era TV movie an angry Trump had hidden away after one terrible Monday night football game bumped it from the schedule. Luckily, Ron Howard managed to unearth the tape for the world to see. The film is about as nuts as you'd expect, featuring appearances from Alfred Molina, Jack McBrayer, Michaela Watkins, and many others. Kenny Loggins even came onboard to write the theme song.
