Watch an incredible 360-degree video of a F-22 Raptor flying in formation with a P-51 Mustang | The Verge

Watch an incredible 360-degree video of a F-22 Raptor flying in formation with a P-51 Mustang | The Verge:

"Heritage flights" are just about the coolest single thing that the United States Air Force takes part in: assemble a few fighter aircraft from different generations and fly them in a very tight formation over a crowd, usually set to inspiring music. Obviously, they're designed to fill our hearts with patriotism and love for the military, which is about as politically charged as it gets — but if you can emotionally separate the political goal from the cool factor, watching an F-22 Raptor share the sky just feet away from a World War II-era P-51 Mustang or P-38 Lightning is intensely amazing.

The Guardian view on Canada’s elections: is the Stephen Harper era over?| Editorial | Comment is free | The Guardian

The Guardian view on Canada’s elections: is the Stephen Harper era over?| Editorial | Comment is free | The Guardian:

It is the second biggest country in the world, yet sometimes it seems almost invisible. Often ignored by its powerful neighbour, regarded with only distant affection by the two European countries from which its settlers came, and taken for granted by many nations who should be more grateful than they are for its help and mediation in the past, Canada ploughs a lonely furrow. Now it is heading toward an election that will determine whether it will continue along the predictable rightward course set by Stephen Harper as prime minister over the past decade or whether it can recover some of the verve and originality that once marked its politics, not least under Pierre Trudeau, whose son Justin is one of the contenders.

Executives And Managers Should All Be Elected | TechCrunch

Executives And Managers Should All Be Elected | TechCrunch:

Maybe you have managers who get a lot done, but suck the life out of employees. They may produce short-term results, but they will create churn and siphon value out of the company. The cost in talent and human dignity is not worth it. Make your leaders accountable to the people they lead. The best will rise; the a-holes will fall. Your company will become a place where people want to work.

Berkeley Breathed Publishes First New ‘Bloom County’ Strip Since 1989 - NYTimes.com:

So it was a surprise for comics fans to wake up on Monday and discover that Berkeley Breathed, the Pulitzer Prize-winning creator and artist of “Bloom County,” had revived that vintage 1980s strip on his Facebook page after a hiatus of more than 25 years (depending on how one measures) and with almost no advance notice.

Thomas Piketty: ‘Germany Has Never Repaid its Debts. It Has No Right to Lecture Greece’ | The Wire

Thomas Piketty: ‘Germany Has Never Repaid its Debts. It Has No Right to Lecture Greece’ | The Wire

Those who want to chase Greece out of the Eurozone today will end up on the trash heap of history. If the Chancellor wants to secure her place in the history books, just like [Helmut] Kohl did during reunification, then she must forge a solution to the Greek question, including a debt conference where we can start with a clean slate. But with renewed, much stronger fiscal discipline.

Tom Kundig's Studhorse is a rural retreat in Washington:

The mountain landscape of Washington's Methow Valley is the setting for this family retreat, conceived by architect Tom Kundig as four structures arranged "like a little campground" around a big rock ( slideshow).
